Defect Assessment calibration blocks from Eclipse Scientific contain a variety of targets and geometries specifically designed for calibrating ultrasonic equipment to be used in defect sizing applications

Thin Wall (ETW) Block

The ETW block is an all-in-one calibration block that incorporates 31 targets, including side drilled holes, flat bottom holes, notches, and a step wedge, providing ample targets for transducer calibration and training in defect sizing. The ETW block can be used for opposite wall defect evaluation and training, normal beam transducer calibration, and many more applications.

    5 steps - 2.5 to 12.5 mm
  • Side Drilled Holes
    5 SDHs - 1mm diameter at depths 2 to 10mm
    1 SDH - 1mm diameter at depth of 6.25mm
  • Near Side Flat Bottom Holes
    5 FBHs - 4mm diameter at depths 1 to 5mm
  • Far Side Flat Bottom Holes
    3 FBHs - 4mm diameter at depths 1 to 3mm
    6 FBHs - 0.5 to 5 mm diameter with 3mm depth
  • Near Side Machined Notches
    1 isolated notch - 0.4 by 10mm, 1mm deep
    1 notch pair - each notch 0.4 by 10mm with depths of 1.5 and 2mm

Pipeline (EPL) Block

EPL blocks are designed for pipeline and other curved surface applications. Each calibration block includes five components composed of coupons from various pipe curvatures.

  • Curved surfaces (radius of 8”, 12”, 20”, 36”, and 48”)

Heavy Wall (EHW) Block

EHW blocks are designed for longer sound path applications. Targets and step regions are designed for a range of normal beam, angled longitudinal and shear wave inspection applications.

  • Step wedge region (5 known thicknesses)
  • Notches

Overlay (EOL) Block

EOL blocks are designed for cladding and tube sheet applications. Targets are located within the base material, at the transition from cladding to steel, and in the cladding.
