Eclipse Scientific is pleased to offer our MPE-series, a versatile rotary encoder that senses position by measuring the orientation of the North-South poles of a specially magnetized magnet.
MPE-2 Sensor
The MPE-2 sensor has a standard mounting flange and is designed to locate into a 14 mm hole. MPE-2 is available with Zero-Halogen continuous flex cable cut to length, and terminated with customer specified connectors to suit specific applications. MPE-2 operates over a –40°C to + 100°C temperature range.
In a typical application, a suitable magnet is mounted on a shaft, wheel, or other rotating mechanical component: the integrated sensor of the MPE produces the incremental A & B quadrature output signals of common industrial encoders.
MPE has no moving parts to wear out, and its robust design offers very high resistance to shock and vibration. |

MPE-Taxi
The unique design of the MPE-Taxi encoder allows stable movement and accurate encoded measurement over almost any surface. The MPE-Taxi PA encoder is used with the OmniScan MX instrument and is designed to fit a wide range of wedge designs. The link arms permit the wedges to float, accommodating a range of ID or OD diameters and the freedeom to move over virtually any surface while maintaining consistent accuracy.
- Can accommodate wedges of different widths
- Unlimited wedge angle adjustment for use on flat surfaces or pipes of varying diameters

TOFD Series Scanning Systems
The TOFD Series scanning system is made specifically to function with the MPE Taxi and TOFD wedges. This flexible and strong, modular system features:
- A wide range of angles enabling inspection of many different configurations while maintaining consistent accuracy
- Variable PCS, wedge distances

TOFD Refracted Wave Wedges
The TOFD Series wedges are cross-linked polystyrene pre-drilled for assembly with TOFD Hydlar-Wedge Holders that supply couplant.

TOFD Adaptor Plates for Transducers
TOFD Series adaptor plates for transducers are made specifically to function with TOFD Refracted Wave Wedges. Made from anodized aluminum and feature:
- Guaranteed, accurate fit to any TOFD Refracted Wave Wedge
- Small size, low profile
- Available with various thread types to fit most transducers
Magnetic Sleeve Scanner
The Magnetic Sleeve Scanner uses the MPE-Taxi PA as the encoder. This portable scanner clamps and holds fast to flat and curved surfaces and pipe, and allows the encoder to be moved easily and accurately for precise scanning.
- Can reliably hold on to small and large pipe diameters
- Will attach in any position but is easily moved by hand
- Wedge positions are fully adjustable with the innovative Link Arm system

MPE-SAT Scanning Systems
The MPE-SAT Encoder offers similar capabilities and unique design aspects to that of the MPE-Taxi Encoder, with the added flexibility of being able to be mounted in a fixture to control movement over difficult terrain. Accurate encoded measurement over almost any surface can be achieved when the MPE-SAT Encoder is used with the OmniScan MX instrument.

- Can be mounted into many fixture designs

Small Diameter Pipe Scanner
The Small Diameter Pipe Scanner uses the MPE-SAT as the encoder. Adjustable, portable and with the ability to mount onto small diameter pipes are some of the unique characteristics of this scanning system.
- Can handle pipe diameters between 2” and 4” nominal diameters
- Wedge positions are fully adjustable with the innovative Link Arm system
