Time of Flight Diffraction (Olympus OmniScan) Intro Level - C142

This introductory instrument-specific course is designed for ultrasonic NDT technicians and technical persons seeking to better understand TOFD with specific instruments. The course covers the TOFD physics principles as well as hardware and software instrument operation. Students will learn all steps necessary to accomplish high quality TOFD inspection, including scan plan development, TOFD instrument calibration, scanning, analyzing, and reporting findings for many TOFD applications. Students will also learn how to use TOFD scanning techniques with Phased Array Ultrasonics to achieve full-coverage scans. Successful graduates will be awarded a certificate of course completion in TOFD (Instrument-Specific) providing evidence of their technical and practical skills for advanced NDT work, the ability to perform quality inspections, and to gain eligible NDT hours and skills towards the successful completion of a higher certification program as an ultimate career development goal.
